Recently announced and demonstrated at last month's Bristol HiFi Show, Rega's latest edition to their extensive turntable range is now available, namely the Planar-6 RS Edition.
Drawing on the success of the excellent Planar-3 RS Edition, Rega have stepped things up a notch and conceived the Planar-6 RS Edition, offering superb performance at an exceptionally keen price point.
The Planar-6 RS Edition (Rega Special) takes a number of key engineering features from the next tier Planar-8 model whilst retaining the classic Rega plinth and dustcover.
The ultra lightweight high rigidity plinth makes the perfect platform to mount the precision RB880 tonearm which, in turn, is factory fitted with the multi-award winning Nd9 moving magnet cartridge.
The Rega Planar-6 RS Edition's plinth is constructed using Rega's unique Tancast 8 foam core plinth finished with an aluminium metal skin HP laminate and matching edging. This assembly creates a highly ridged ultra-light platform, ideal for mounting advanced components whilst reducing resonance. Like the standard Planar-6, the RS Edition includes a custom matched Neo MK2 TT-PSU. But, unlike the standard Planar-6, the hand tuned low noise 24VAC motor now drives the aluminium sub platter via an upgraded CNC machined drive pulley and twin Rega Reference EBLT drive belts for improved accuracy and speed control.
To complete the package, the precision RB880 tonearm (usually found on the Planar 8) is supplied & fitted with the highly acclaimed Nd9 moving magnet cartridge to complete the Planar-6 RS Edition package.
